The Fundamentals of Regenerative Agriculture course spans four days, offering a comprehensive foundation to regenerative farming practices through both theoretical lessons and practical, hands-on experience. The course covers a range of essential topics, including syntropic agroforestry, the soil food web, soil health, microscopy, composting, and farm design and layout. Participants will explore these concepts in diverse settings, starting with the first session in Limuru at the Brackenhurst Conference Center and continuing with practical applications in Ruiru, Tatu City.
This unique course is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in regenerative agriculture. Through engaging lectures, practical demonstrations, and interactive activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of the principles and applications of sustainable farming systems. The curriculum includes key topics such as succession and its impact on agriculture, designing and managing agroforestry systems, soil correction and preparation, composting techniques (including hot composting and the Johnson-Su model), vermiculture, pruning, and ongoing system maintenance.
Participants will also delve into advanced skills like soil microscopy to analyze soil health, creating nutrient-rich compost, and designing productive farm layouts that foster ecological balance and resilience. By the end of the course, students will have the knowledge and skills needed to implement regenerative practices and design systems that enhance agricultural yields while restoring ecological health.
